Specialized mountain bike shoes are about as high-tech as footwear can get. Aside from their bicycles, the athletes rely almost entirely on the proper shoes. All of this helps prevent collapse during powerful pedal pressing as the rider scales the hill.
BG has also managed to create a few ingenious and ultra-convenient additions to their shoes. Especially for those who are in mid-race, the new Boa S1 closure feature will no doubt be a time-saver. This is a knob, attached to the end of each foot strap, which can be adjusted in micro-intervals to loosen or tighten the shoe. Instead of having to stop and re-strap, the rider can make the proper adjustments in mid-stride.
While in other sports it may not be as productive to spend so much time considering proper footwear, in this field of rough riders, it’s essential. Specialized mountain bike shoes are not only necessary for conserving the rider’s energy, but also for preventing injury. With companies like BG constantly raising the bar, the quality of athletic performances will also certainly be on the rise.
